SUMMARY:Building a Faire Family/Intentional Community: Koroneburg
DESCRIPTION:Twenty-Nine Years of the Koroneburg Renaissance Festival \nwith Baron Henirich von Laufer \nPresented by the Baron Himself\, Chuck Spitler \nFor 29 years\, Chuck Spitler has been the Baron. Played him as an actor? Maybe at first\, but after a generation or two of children have grown up spending 6 weekends of summer with this Uncle by choice and are now bringing their children to see the Faire\, be in jousts for the Baron’s entertainment\, and just EXPERIENCE it\, the Baron in many ways is the Reality. This is not like the Renaissance Pleasure Faire of Southern California\, where the Queen is just an actress playing a role. I have seen the owners of this Faire wisely taking council with the Baron on many things\, from promotion to the activities being offered to who should be in them. \nThe buildings were real and stood all year round\, creating a feeling of traveling through Time to be there. \nIn August of 2025\, dark news came that Koroneburg was to be closed down after Riverside County Parks decided not to offer the Festival a renewed lease. All those beloved buildings\, knocked down and gone! \nIs there a way that Koroneburg could be brought back to Life? Perhaps. Chuck is in the process of writing a book about the Koroneburg Renaissance Festival – its history and how to build something like this wherever you are. That will keep it alive for those who come after. \n11 to 1 Poly discussion live and on zoom. Live only after that. \n1 Pot Luck lunch – bring something healthy and delicious to share. \n2 to 3:45 Afternoon activity: Exercises for developing intimacy – empathic communication to enhance your love life and friendships. Clothing-optional jacuzzi available. \n4 to 5:45 Socializing in the shaded\, clothing-optional hot tub or watch a Poly movie in the living room. \n6 Pot Luck dinner – bring your favorite Halloween-themed dish to share with 10 people. \n7:15 All Hallows Eve Samhain Ritual led by Terry and Craig Brussel Rogers. \n8 to 11 Halloween Party. If you want to present anything perhaps relating to the costume (or body paint) you choose to wear\, do let us know. We may play the Rocky Horror Picture Show. It’s traditional\, after all!

SUMMARY:Building an Intimate Network of Friends and Lovers at Any Age
DESCRIPTION:What is is like to be 72? I once thought it meant sitting by the fire in a rocking chair\, wrinkled\, tired\, and remembering better days. Reporting from the front lines\, it ain’t so. I\nhave an active love life\, both with my romantic husband and our lovers who bring us delight in our bed which is big enough for four to sleep and cuddle in. Five can fit for… other activities. \nMy husband and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary April 28 (a bit early) in Hawaii! \nMany of my friends and lovers have been in my life for decades. The co-author of our book\, Fifty Years of Polyamory in America\, Glen Olson has been my best friend since we were in high school. \nAt age 15\, we were part of a sensitivity group which featured weekly evening meetings for doing verbal and sensual exercises\, ranging from sharing our discovery of how opposite (and delightful) the opposite sex could be\, to exploring each other’s faces with curious\, gentle fingers. We had birthday parties and kidnap breakfasts\, too. The difference between this and most teen gatherings was that at any moment the mood could shift and if one of us needed to TALK about something\, get advice or blow off steam\, we could. \nGlen and I read Robert Heinlein’s Stranger in a Strange Land when we were 15 and Shared Water as written in the book. This creates Family by Choice\, which can be at least as close as Family by blood. Others in our group Shared Water with each other and some with us. The two Nests became One when at age 18 I I grew close enough with a girl in the other Nest to want her as water kin. \nToday we have a Nest of 12 who get together pretty regularly in various configurations. Most of these have joined us along the way in our adult lives\, such as my second husband Paul and his wife Athena. \nOthers are further out in our orbit geographically\, such as the leader of our sensitivity group in high school\, Art. My husband Craig and I visit him in Northern California when we go to The Great Dickens Christmas Faire\, at which he plays a dear friend of Charles Dickens himself. The connection when we do get together is as close as it was when he and I were teenagers. \nIt is wonderful to share old memories and create new ones. We visit Kathy and Dean in that area\, too. Our water kin (since 1987) Dave and Eileen sometimes join our LTD meetings on Zoom from the state of Washington\, and we visit them in their cooperative living community every year or three. \nOberon and Rhianon Zell were in town here before their Tennessee wedding in May of 2024\, at which I handled the guest book. Oberon (founder and primate of Church of All Worlds) conducted a meeting of most of those in our LA Nest at that time. It was very special for all of us. Guess that is pushing 22 geographical barriers aside. \nWhat does it take to develop that kind of intimate network? Hint: you DON’T have to start it in high school. This meeting is about exactly how you can make it happen in your life. Whether you are 18 or 70 you can create the joy of CONNECTION in your life starting NOW! Join us by Zoom or in person for this meeting to find out how! Hugs and hot tubs are better in person if you are local… \nAfter lunch\, there will be a summer solstice ritual led by Terry and Craig.

SUMMARY:Dragon Riders of (Poly) Pern by Anne McCaffery + St. Patrick’s Day Celebration!
DESCRIPTION:Dragon Riders of (Poly) Pern by Anne McCaffery\nZoom 11 am to 1 pm | Live 11 am to 4 pm\nLed by Mark Merlino and Rod O’Reilley\, founders of “Furry Fandom” and of The Prancing Skiltare\, a group house spanning decades!\nThey have been in an open committed relationship (which has often included long-term lovers/ housemates) for 34 years. \nWhile Science Fiction inspires this meeting\, the intent of presenting it is to learn how to use it in our own poly lives. \nYES\, you can attend and enjoy the meeting without having read the books! \nAnne’s original stories were poly oriented simply by featuring characters bonded emotionally for life to sentient telepathic dragons. Many of these Dragon Riders were also bonded to human mates with whom they shared romantic and physically sexual connections. Anne’s son and daughter have written their own books in that universe which could actually be considered Poly Primers describing different ways of creating and maintaining multiple committed relationships with human partners. \nIn a world protected from life-destroying spores by genetically engineered fire-breathing dragons bonded at their hatching to empathic human dragon riders\, the social structure is an unusual one. Queen dragons are ridden by women\, Browns and Bronzes by males. However\, males\, as well as females\, can bond with and ride female fire-breathing green dragons. When a rider’s dragon makes her mating flight\, the passions of their dragons cause the riders to mate in their own way. In the Weyr caves which house dragons and their riders\, sexual mores are different from those on the rest of the planet of Pern since dragons may not honor the current romantic commitments of their riders when mating. Since the Weyrs are group living arrangements in any case\, children resulting from such liaisons are raised by the “village” with a foster mother and/or father doing the primary parenting. \nHappy St. Patrick’s Day! \n\n1pm | Potluck Lunch – Corn beef and cabbage provided by your host and hostess. Bring something healthy and delicious to share\, please.  \n2pm |Spring Equinox ritual. Flowers\, joy… gratitude for the beauty and abundant fertility of Mother nature.\n3-4pm |Hot tubbing and/or listening to Pern-inspired music—tends to be pretty Celtic. Schooling on Pern is done by Harpers from the Harper’s Hall where musically inclined lads and lassies are apprenticed as early teens to become storytellers\, singers\, composers\, and musicians. More classic St. Patrick’s Day music such as Irish Rovers also available. Note\, if interested in socializing in the clothing-optional hot tub\, bring sandals and a towel.\n\n\nJoin Zoom Meeting\n https://us02web.zoom.us/j/3175971626?pwd=NWVjU3A2M0I2Q29IUkI4L1lMRzd2QT09 \nMeeting ID: 317 597 1626  Passcode: Heinlein \nFind us Always here on the 3rd Saturday from 11AM-  1PM Pacific Time.
