The Allott House was Family Synergy’s group living example as well as its meeting and party house in the late 70’s. Terry and Paul met there when she and her first husband Richard brought their children to a Family Synergy Passover Seder led by group founder Hy Levy. The group went to concerts\, movies and social gatherings together. \nThey had fun. There\, Paul learned what it was like to have all the sex you could handle and what followed when there was time to build a RELATIONSHIP. Penfield House\, bought by Terry and Paul (then in a triad with Marcus) in 2003\, was in part an attempt to recreate some of that experience which lasts into the present. Just talked to a friend involved in SCA—meetings in parks are going strong and attracting hundreds. They are not social distancing as they reenact the time before the Renaissance. BDSM and LGBTQ groups are meeting in restaurants. Nudist venues have indoor /outdoor events with plenty of hugging. I looked for a Poly gathering to promote our 35th anniversary celebration—NOTHING was going on live! In LA! Is this the way we want to live in the future? Has COVID brought a future of virtual contact replacing touch into reality much sooner than we expected…? Why more in the poly community than in related communities? There are\, of course\, plenty of people isolating among the mundanes for reasons ranging from health to phobias. It may be safer to stay away from people as far as not getting COVID is concerned\, but lack of touch has its own negative physical and emotional results. COVID isolation is becoming a syndrome in itself.
