Understanding what is important to each of us during this festive season and how we celebrate it is a way to grow closer and delight in our diversity.\n\n\n6-7pm | Potluck Dinner and Holiday Party – Bring your favorite holiday dishes for supper (Big enough for 10 to share!)\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFOOD \n♦ Your favorite holiday dish for potluck supper— (big enough for 10 to share.) \n♦ Latkes (provided by Live the Dream\, along with applesauce and sour cream) \nENTERTAINMENT \n♦ Songs about the Maccabees     ♦ Dreidel games \n♦ Clothing optional Jacuzzi (with holiday music playing inside it!) available all afternoon and evening–bring sandals and towels. \nOTHER TRADITIONS \n♦ Lighted-up Christmas miniature houses \n♦ Lighting the Hannuka menorah\, even though that holiday goes from December 7th to the 15th\, we will still light all the candles one night late! \n♦ A Winter Solstice ritual     ♦ Followed by optional Gift Exchange \nDid we forget a ritual important to you? Bring stories/songs/poetry to share.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n7pm | Twas Night Before Christmas read by Linda Fitak\, actress and voice-over professional\n\n\n\n\n\nClement Clarke Moore wrote the famous poem “Night Before Christmas” in 1822 when living in his house in Elmhurst\, Queens\, New York City. Here’s a photo of the house before it was demolished in 1932. Our \nHigh Priestess\, Ealswythe (Linda) grew up in Elmhurst and frequently played at the Clement C. Moore Park as a child. It was only about 3 blocks from where she lived. Every year\, her elementary school class would go to the park and sing Christmas carols and recite the poem “Night Before Christmas.” She will read the poem for us at the Yule holiday party and lead the Yuletide (Winter Solstice) ritual. \nThe Moore Homestead in Elmhurst.
