How can we balance safety with JOY in our lives? Your input appreciated!
Why are business mixers going strong with participants swarming to them in locations indoor and out, then standing much closer than 6 feet apart while transacting business while the poly community has all but stopped live meetings and even the Cuddle groups are doing it on Zoom? Just talked to a friend involved in SCA—meetings in parks are going strong and attracting hundreds. They are not social distancing as they reenact the time before the Renaissance. BDSM and LGBTQ groups are meeting in restaurants. Nudist venues have indoor /outdoor events with plenty of hugging. I looked for a Poly gathering to promote our 35th anniversary celebration—NOTHING was going on live! In LA! Is this the way we want to live in the future? Has COVID brought a future of virtual contact replacing touch into reality much sooner than we expected…? Why more in the poly community than in related communities? There are, of course, plenty of people isolating among the mundanes for reasons ranging from health to phobias. It may be safer to stay away from people as far as not getting COVID is concerned, but lack of touch has its own negative physical and emotional results. COVID isolation is becoming a syndrome in itself. As a hypnotherapist, I am helping my clients deal with it in various forms from depression to hives.
Good thing I pioneered telephone hypnotherapy in 1995! I just did not realize how isolated our own poly community had become. What do YOU want this to look like in your future?
